In Yunlin County, Taiwan, there is a severe shortage of dental healthcare manpower in rural areas, with 15 out of 20 towns classified as lacking medical resources, affecting around 55% of the county's population. To address this issue, Councilor Huang Mei-yao suggested supplementing dental manpower through various channels, including signing service contracts with foreign-trained dentists to serve in rural areas. This proposal aims to quickly increase the number of dentists in underserved regions and alleviate long-standing medical resource shortages. The proposal has gained support from 41 councilors, highlighting the urgency to improve dental healthcare accessibility in Yunlin County.
