German optical technology firm Carl Zeiss AG has inaugurated its first global capability centre in Bengaluru, India, with plans to double its workforce to 5,000 employees over the next three years. The centre will focus on cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software services for the medical technology sector. This initiative is part of a wider trend where Indian GCCs are evolving into critical local offices for international firms. Zeiss's new manufacturing facility, also in Bengaluru, represents the largest investment outside Germany, highlighting the region's growing importance.
