On July 9, 2024, former Taoyuan Mayor and former Straits Exchange Foundation Chairman Cheng Wen-tsang was accused of taking a bribe of 5 million in the Lincou Gongwu Land Development case, and the Taoyuan District Court ruled to release him on bail. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office successfully appealed the bail and reopened the detention hearing on the morning of the 9th.
