Former Taoyuan Mayor Zheng Wen-tsang had his bail revoked in the case of illicit expansion of land in Linkou W-5, being accused of taking bribes. The Taoyuan District Court initially set bail at five million, which was promptly appealed by the prosecutors. The Taiwan High Court found errors in the lower court's decision, leading to the bail revocation and sending the case back to the Taoyuan court. Following a successful appeal by the prosecution, a retrial is set for this morning at 10 a.m. in Taoyuan with the case files returned last evening. The High Court raised concerns about possible collusion among suspects and witnesses, questioning the thoroughness of the lower court's judgement in addressing these issues. The Taoyuan court now prepares for the retrial by assigning a new judge but will not announce the name to avoid unnecessary pressure.
