On July 6, 2024, Zheng Wencan, Chairman of the SEF, was summoned by the prosecutors on suspicion of involvement in land development and bribery, with bail set at 5 million NT dollars by the Taoyuan District Court. KMT legislator Xu Yuzhen stated that given the significant amount of bail, Zheng Wencan should resign immediately as SEF Chairman and await judicial investigation. Xu also criticized Zheng's alleged involvement in controversial land development cases during his time as the mayor of Taoyuan, urging for a fair investigation and restoration of cross-strait relations by the government.
