Taoyuan District Court ruled that former president of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Zheng Wentian, will be released on NT$12 million bail due to a lack of necessity for detention as he has been out of office as mayor of Taoyuan for over 1.5 years. The court also mentioned three key reasons supporting the decision, including the seriousness of the suspected crimes, lack of concrete evidence for money laundering, and the uncertainty regarding the involvement of public officials in the case. Zheng will face restrictions on his movements and interactions with other individuals related to the case.
