Chinese startup Zhipu AI, founded in 2019 as a spinoff from Tsinghua University, has taken initial steps toward an IPO, aiming to be the first AI company in China to go public. The company gained attention for securing significant state-backed funding and claims that its GLM4 model outperforms OpenAI's GPT-4. Zhipu AI has announced its plans to open-source its language models and is working with China International Capital Corporation to complete the IPO process.
