On June 27, 2024, the Chief Justice of Changhua District Court stated that individuals associated with Zhongzhou University of Science and Technology lured Ugandan students to Taiwan under false pretenses, providing them with inaccurate information about potential work opportunities and failing to inform them of the possibility of not finding a job in Taiwan, leading to them having to request living expenses from their families in Uganda and engage in strenuous work. As a result, the court found that this constituted a violation of the Trafficking in Persons Prevention Act. The court sentenced the former Vice Principal and former Director of the Promotion Center, as well as a former Administrative Officer, to 5 years and 6 months each for their involvement in this exploitation case.
