In Sanxia Old Street, New Taipei City, many vendors operate, but a landlord complains that police officers came daily to issue fines, claiming they were illegally vending in a 'similar to a sidewalk' area. Over 5,000 tickets were accumulated. The landlord appealed, stating that the area is private land, not a sidewalk. The ruling confirmed it was not a 'similar to a sidewalk' situation, leading to the cancellation of fines totaling over two million. Business losses due to reduced rent for the stalls have prompted the landlord to apply for government compensation.
