Taiwan faces a significant problem of labor shortages impacting industries, with experts noting that construction-related fall accidents are higher than those in other advanced countries. To mitigate this issue, comprehensive safety inspections for high-risk construction projects are necessary to reduce workplace accidents and strengthen safety measures. The Labor Department has designated this year as the 'Year of Fall Prevention in Construction' and is intensifying inspections and penalties in the construction sector. Despite a decrease in overall workplace fatalities, falls still comprise 68.4% of cases, prompting the organization of a summit to brainstorm solutions. Experts emphasize that without reducing these accidents, the labor shortage problem will worsen, as falls represent 60%-70% of construction incidents.
