Reported on July 17, 2024, a man surnamed Shen from Taoyuan sexually assaulted a woman he met on a dating app named Xiaoxuan, resulting in pregnancy. Shen refused to take responsibility and pressured her to have an abortion. Xiaoxuan filed a lawsuit, leading to Shen being sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in prison for forced sexual intercourse. Despite his appeal being rejected, the case can still be further appealed. This incident was exposed after Xiaoxuan confided in her family, leading to a heated confrontation and eventually a miscarriage surgery. Shen, who initially refused to take responsibility, later claimed willingness to raise the child but without a relationship or marriage, stating, 'Men should dare to take responsibility, but we cannot be together out of obligation due to a child—an empty love, right?'
