Legislature Lifts Ban on Travel to China with Blue and White Cooperation; Premier: Lawmakers Should Be Responsible for People's Safety

Reported 11 months ago

On July 16th, the Legislative Yuan voted to lift the 'ban on travel to China' with cooperation from both blue and white parties. Premier Su Tseng-chang stated that the Executive Yuan would still be responsible if unexpected incidents occurred for Taiwanese visiting China. The decision, although not legally binding, is seen as a step towards resuming cross-strait tourism. The travel industry urges the government to not go against public opinion and to quickly restore travel between both sides.
