On July 17, 2024, a significant fire broke out at the Jiuding Department Store in Zigong, Sichuan Province, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. As of 8:20 PM, firefighters had extinguished the blaze and rescued 17 individuals who were trapped, though some people remain still trapped inside the 14-story building. The cause of the fire and the total number of casualties are still under investigation.
