In the week of July 17, 2024, a shocking incident of six deaths occurred at the five-star Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in central Bangkok, with the victims, including two Americans and four Vietnamese nationals, found dead in a suite. Suspicious powder was discovered in their cups, leading the police to believe that one of them poisoned the others, possibly due to a financial dispute originating from a business deal involving a loan. The mysterious seventh person, who was the sister of one victim, had returned to Vietnam before the incident, according to investigations. The Thai police found cyanide in the teapot and teacups in the room, with all victims showing signs of poisoning. Despite the crime, the Thai government plans to hold a meeting at the same hotel as scheduled.
