On July 17, 2024, the Taiwan High Court revoked the previous bail decision for 88-year-old Yang Zhao-lin, a former executive at Formosa Plastics, who is connected to a corruption case involving Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan. The Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office had applied for Yang's detention, citing concerns of evidence tampering, but the High Court found that the initial court did not sufficiently justify these concerns. Yang was initially granted NT$10 million bail, which the prosecutor's office contested, leading to the High Court's decision to revisit the case.
