16 counties and cities issue heat warnings, 40.8°C recorded in Qijin, Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung City and Hualien County are under orange warnings with a likelihood of 38°C extreme heat; while Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, and Taitung County are under orange warnings, indicating a chance of consecutive days with 36°C heat. Keelung City is under a yellow warning. Notably, at 11:13 AM, Qijin in Kaohsiung recorded a temperature of 40.8°C due to its unique geographical conditions. The public is advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, protect themselves from heat, ventilate indoor spaces, and take measures to cool down. Special attention is urged for vulnerable groups and individuals working or exercising outdoors to avoid heat-related issues.
