17 Chinese Citizens Killed in South Korean Battery Factory Fire, Wang Yi Demands 'Promptly Identify Causes of Accident'

A fire broke out at the Aricell lithium battery factory in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on June 24, resulting in the death of over 20 people, including 17 Chinese citizens. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged South Korea to quickly investigate the cause of the accident during a meeting with former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan. Wang Yi expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the need to prevent similar tragedies. South Korean officials, including President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, visited the site to express condolences, while various departments established a joint support center to assist the families of the deceased Chinese citizens.
