According to a study by Chainalysis, losses from cryptocurrency hacks rose by 21% to $2.2 billion in 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year where stolen amounts exceeded $1 billion. The number of hacking incidents increased to 303, with significant cases including over $305 million stolen from Japan's DMM Bitcoin and $235 million from India's WazirX. The report also highlighted a notable rise in hacking associated with North Korea, attributed to its ability to bypass international sanctions through cryptocurrencies.
