A 66-year-old man, Mr. Chen, who had a habit of drinking alcohol and chewing betel nuts, began experiencing vomiting and weight loss two months prior. After seeking medical attention at the Taoyuan Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare in May, he was diagnosed with stage II esophageal cancer. Following the diagnosis, he underwent chemotherapy in the hospital's Hematology-Oncology department. Esophageal cancer is often asymptomatic until it reaches an advanced stage, with common symptoms including difficulty swallowing, vomiting, weight loss, coughing, and hoarseness of voice. Treatment options include endoscopic treatment, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
