The black bonito fishing season, which typically runs from April to July, has seen a bountiful harvest this year leading to a price drop in Taiwan. As a result, the Fishery Agency has announced an early closure of the fishing season starting on June 12th. The total national quota for Pacific black bonito is 1,965 tons, and as of June 9th, 90% of the quota has already been reached. To comply with international regulations, the Fishery Agency has issued a notice to halt black bonito operations from June 12th onwards, providing fishermen with a two-day buffer period to comply. Violations of the fishing ban will lead to penalties and may influence future fishing permits. The agency urges fishermen to adhere to international regulations to ensure the sustainability of black bonito resources for the country's future fishing interests.
