Acer's GenAI Trend: Still in Infancy, Says Jason Chen

Reported about 1 year ago

Acer's May revenue continued to grow year-on-year by 16-18%, reaching 21.13 billion NT dollars, with accumulated revenue for the first five months of the year showing a 15.9% year-on-year growth, totaling 97.808 billion NT dollars. Acer's non-PC and display-related business accounted for 26.5% of its revenue in May and 29% in the first five months. Under the GenAI-led AI trend, Acer's subsidiary, Altos Computing, specializing in AI servers and workstations, recorded a 256.4% year-on-year revenue growth in May and a 111.4% growth for the first five months of the year. Acer's CEO, Jason Chen, sees the AI PC development as still in its infancy, awaiting software and hardware upgrades, new business models, and AI applications to drive growth. He believes that Taiwan will continue to play an irreplaceable role in the global supply chain, especially in semiconductors and ICT. The PC market is expected to see positive momentum in the second half of the year, with the release of more AI laptops stimulating demand for high-performance laptops, leading to a projected 3.6% increase in global laptop shipments to 173.45 million units.
