MIT and Brigham and Women’s Hospital researchers introduced a surgical technique called agonist-antagonist myoneural interface (AMI), connecting muscle remnants from the shin and the calf to enable more natural movements with advanced prosthetic lower limbs. This approach, controlled by neural feedback, provides significant upgrades in proprioceptive feedback, allowing patients to walk faster, avoid obstacles, and climb stairs with improved coordination compared to traditional prosthetics, marking a significant milestone in brain-controlled prosthetic technology.
