After breaking his 3-wood, Stanford's Karl Vilips will undergo surgery before starting the NCAAs.

Reported 5 months ago

Stanford senior golfer Karl Vilips broke his 3-wood in frustration during a tournament, but rebounded by birdieing three of his last four holes to help Stanford qualify for the NCAA Championship. Despite not having his 3-wood, Vilips used a driving iron to shoot 3-under 69 in the opening round of the championship, just one shot behind the individual leader. Vilips, who had initially struggled with his game at Stanford, has since improved by taking ownership of his game and self-diagnosing issues, leading to a more successful junior and senior year.
