Supermarket group Ahold Delhaize will close underperforming Stop & Shop grocery stores in the U.S. without disclosing the number of closures. The decision comes as part of the company's evaluation to create a healthier store base for the long term, with Stop & Shop being one of the group's five brands in the U.S. operating nearly 400 stores. Ahold Delhaize, which earns over half of its revenues in the U.S., reported 54.54 billion euros in U.S. sales in 2023.
