Alitalia has initiated collective dismissal procedures for its remaining 2,059 employees as the airline moves towards final liquidation. This decision comes amid challenges faced by its successor, ITA Airways, in merger negotiations with Lufthansa, which have stalled due to disagreements over valuation amid Alitalia's ongoing poor performance. The layoff, which includes more than 1,100 flight attendants and 82 pilots, will take effect in January.
