On June 26, 2024, in the morning at 4:25 am, artist Nicholas Tse was dragged into a lawsuit where it was claimed that in 2016, through a friend Dong Ziqi, he rented a luxury mansion in Neihu, Taipei to Yang Qiangrong, known as 'Aunt Yuan Yuan', but Dong's daughter and Yang operated a casino inside. Yang even claimed that Nicholas Tse was involved and close friends with Dong's daughter, leading to a lawsuit against Nicholas Tse for defamation. The original 1 year and 6 months sentence for Yang was reduced to 5 months and a fine of 150,000 yuan due to a settlement between the parties after an appeal. Upon responding to the matter, Nicholas Tse emphasized that he will defend himself against false accusations and advised those seeking fame or gain through harming the reputation of others to be aware that good and evil will be repaid. He forgave Yang due to her sincere remorse and old age, highlighting the need for the justice system to impose suitable penalties for severe defamation.
