Alphabet Inc.’s Google Partners with Nevada Utility for Clean Power Deal

Reported 7 months ago

Alphabet Inc.’s Google has teamed up with a Nevada utility and a geothermal energy startup to power data centers using geothermal electricity, offering a renewables alternative that operates non-stop with no emissions. The planned geothermal plant by Fervo Energy will provide 115 megawatts to NV Energy Inc., a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy, for further sale to Google. This move aligns with Google's goal to be 100% carbon-free by 2030 and addresses the escalating energy demands of data centers, signifying a step towards decarbonizing operations for tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
