Amazon's official website in China announced on June 30 that Kindle China's e-bookstore ceased operations on June 30 of the previous year, with cloud download services stopping on June 30 this year. Undownloaded e-books will no longer be accessible, and Kindle customer service also ended on the same day. Following Lonely Planet, Amazon China becomes another foreign company to end its business in China, disappointing many mainland Chinese netizens who expressed nostalgia for their first Kindle e-reader. Kindle entered China officially in 2013 and reached its peak in 2018 with over a million units sold. However, the rise of Chinese brands like KDX, Huawei, Boyue, Wexler, and WeChat competed with Kindle, impacting its market share.
