American Airlines has been identified as having a higher probability of mishandling passengers' baggage compared to any other airline over the past three years. Data analysis by MyBaggage.com from 2021 to 2024 showed that American Airlines had the most mishandled baggage incidents among US airlines, with over 2 million bags handled and more than 1.7 million mishandled cases, averaging 8.71 incidents per 1000 bags. Despite acknowledging the issue, American Airlines is working on improvements, reducing February's mishandling cases by 25% compared to the same period last year, and implementing a priority baggage system to expedite baggage retrieval at destinations.
