According to the Ministry of Transportation's Road Safety Information Platform, in the first quarter of this year, there were a total of 17 'pedestrian fatal traffic accidents' in Taichung City, with 10 incidents caused by 'pedestrian violations,' accounting for a high 58.8%. The main reasons were not crossing roadways according to regulations and running red lights. Among the incidents, 10 involved individuals aged 65 or older, constituting nearly '60%,' with older pedestrians having the highest risk of death among all age groups. The Second Police Precinct of Taichung specially identified two major causes: 'failure to cross roads according to regulations' and 'running red lights,' emphasizing the need for pedestrians to adhere to traffic rules and regulations for road safety.
