ArcelorMittal South Africa has stated that it is now the responsibility of the South African government to ensure the survival of crucial steel mills, questioning the effectiveness of the country's industrial policy. The company plans to close three units, which are vital for local industries, unless issues such as high operational costs and unfair competition are addressed. Although they have delayed the closures by a month, the CEO emphasized the urgent need for structural changes to secure the future of the steel production in the country.
