A 20-year-old Asian man named Edward Kang from New York flew over a thousand miles from New Jersey to Florida to attack his online gaming rival whom he had an argument with, purchasing a hammer and flashlight upon arrival to the victim's home in an attempt to murder him. The victim's stepfather intervened and subdued Kang, preventing a potential tragedy. Kang had met the victim through an online role-playing game and had deceived his mother about visiting a friend, but his true intentions were revealed in the violent attack. Kang was charged with illegal entry and attempted second-degree murder, showing the extreme consequences of conflicts in online gaming.
