Japan will issue new banknotes on July 3rd this year, featuring denominations of 10,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 1,000 yen. While the old banknotes can still be used, preparations for the new banknotes may face delays in certain facilities like vending machines and ticketing machines due to the required equipment updates. Travel expert Lin warns that although old yen bills will remain valid indefinitely, there might be initial difficulties using the new banknotes, advising travelers to be prepared with cash and alternative payment methods when in Japan.
