According to a recent annual survey on how Australians view foreign relations, trust in China among Australians has significantly decreased to only 17%, contrasting sharply with the highest level of trust in Japan at 87%. Concerns about regional war risks are escalating, with worries about potential conflicts in Taiwan (59%) and the South China Sea (57%). The survey also indicated a decrease in trust in the United States by 5 percentage points compared to last year, while 63% believe the US alliance makes Australia safer from Chinese attacks or pressure.
