Recent severe weather across Europe has caused flooding and storms, with an Austrian Airlines plane flying from Mallorca to Vienna being struck by hail in mid-air, creating a large hole in the nose of the aircraft and shattering the cockpit windows. The captain issued a distress signal, but thankfully all 179 passengers on board are safe. The incident occurred during a 20-minute descent through stormy weather, with passengers enduring a harrowing 2-minute experience. Damage caused by hailstorms was also reported in Austria and Mallorca, disrupting travel and causing flooding in various areas.
