Be Cautious of Reporting! YouBike Point System Implemented in Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan Starting July 1 - Riding on Sidewalks, Not Yielding to Pedestrians on Crosswalks Will Be Recorded

Reported 11 months ago

Starting July 1, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan will implement a YouBike violation point system to create a pedestrian-friendly traffic environment. Violations like riding on sidewalks, not yielding to pedestrians, and running red lights will earn one point, with accumulative three points resulting in a 14-day suspension. Acts such as riding against traffic, using a phone while cycling, carrying passengers, or riding on sidewalks will also be penalized. The public can report violators through the 1999 reporting system, and after verification, offenders will receive notifications via SMS from the company. Residents have shared their experiences of being harmed by reckless cyclists and urge riders to dismount when passing through sidewalks.
