The benchmark diesel price has increased for the second time in nine weeks, driven by a surge in diesel futures prices, which have risen by over 13 cents per gallon in less than two weeks. The average retail price reported by the Department of Energy rose by 2 cents, bringing it to $3.471 per gallon, following a period of falling prices that reached a low not seen since September 2021. This price uptick comes as global oil prices, including Brent crude, show upward trends amid ongoing trade discussions between the U.S. and China, although analysts express concerns about the overall demand forecast for oil this year.
