A single father in New Taipei City fell victim to a dating scam where he was coerced into paying 65,000 in just two hours. Following instructions from a female online acquaintance, he downloaded a dating app, only to be contacted by a supposed customer service account. He was asked to pay an entrance fee, purchase a 'First Love Card' for 8,000, and later coerced into buying Apple gift cards totaling 65,000 under false premises. The scam highlighted the dangers of paying before meeting anyone online and the elaborate schemes employed by fraudsters.
