Seeking reelection, US President Biden announced a new immigration policy allowing undocumented spouses of US citizens and their children to apply for legal permanent residency without leaving the US. This move aims to facilitate the path to citizenship and will benefit around 500,000 undocumented immigrants married to US citizens, as well as 50,000 children under 21 without US citizenship. The new policy requires US citizens to have been residing in the US for at least 10 years and be legally married. Once approved, applicants can apply for a green card, work permit, and eventually citizenship.
