Boeing CEO, Calhoun, faced heavy criticism from senators during a hearing by the Senate Homeland Security Committee's investigative team. Prior to the hearing, a whistleblower revealed mishandling of faulty or unresolved critical parts in Boeing aircraft. An inspector at Boeing's 737 factory in Washington state disclosed the loss of up to 400 faulty parts for 737 Max aircraft, some of which may have been installed on new planes. Calhoun apologized to victims' families of Boeing 737 MAX crashes and took responsibility for a door detachment incident in January. However, he continued to be questioned about Boeing's safety culture and exorbitant salary during the hearing, with the committee warning of potential legal action against Boeing by the U.S. Department of Justice.
