Tainan Democratic Progressive Party councilor Lin Yi-ting's father, Lin Shi-jie, was fatally shot nine times just as he left his home at 5 am to go mountain climbing on July 8, 2024. Lin Yi-ting rushed to the funeral home upon hearing the tragic news. Eyewitnesses recounted the gruesome scene with the suspect shooting at close range and hitting vital body parts leading to Mr. Lin's demise. Authorities suspect premeditation due to the assailant's professional and calm demeanor and are actively investigating the case.
