On the morning of July 5, 2024, the New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office investigated a case of corruption involving green energy photovoltaics. Yunlin County Council Speaker Huang Kai and over 20 other individuals, including county councilors and green energy industry representatives, were summoned for questioning and taken to the New Taipei District Investigation Bureau. Following interrogation, Speaker Huang Kai applied for remand in custody and denial of visitation rights, which was approved by the court in the afternoon. The court found sufficient suspicion of corruption and bribery, warranting the custody and denial of visitation rights for Huang Kai. Other individuals involved were released on bail or restrictions. This case is ongoing with allegations of severe corruption and potential evidence tampering.
