On June 14, 2024, around 11 a.m., a major accident occurred on the northbound 153 km section of National Freeway 3 in Yuanli, Miaoli, where a large truck overturned due to unknown reasons, with its front end twisted 180 degrees and severely damaged. Fortunately, the driver was rescued and sent for medical examination. However, due to rainy weather and poor road conditions, traffic congestion formed in the northbound lanes, prompting police and the highway bureau to expedite traffic clearance and diversion operations.
