On July 1, 2024, a severe fire broke out in Sanchong, New Taipei City, engulfing a three-story building, where a woman is in critical condition after attempting to save her partner. Firefighters swiftly responded with 55 personnel and 34 vehicles to extinguish the blaze. Two women in a same-sex marriage were rescued but found unresponsive, while the mother who escaped with a dog collapsed in distress. The cause of the fire is under investigation. After medical treatment, both women regained vital signs.
