According to Taiwan Housing Group's statistics on real estate transactions from the first five months of this year for newly built properties within 3 years, the county with the most properties with balconies is Kaohsiung at 99.1%, followed by Tainan at 98.6% and Taoyuan at 97.7%. However, Taipei has the lowest percentage at only 86.3%. Balcony sizes in Taiwan average around 3 ping, but in several cities, balcony sizes have shrunk, including in the Taipei-New Taipei area, Hsinchu County, and Taichung City. The main reason for the reduction in balcony sizes is the rise of small housing products, sacrificing balcony space due to the need for larger elevator numbers and lobby areas in single-story multi-unit communities.
