ByteDance plans to invest 10 billion Malaysian ringgit (approximately 6.87 billion New Taiwan dollars) to establish Malaysia as an artificial intelligence (AI) regional center. The investment aims to expand data center facilities in Johor to meet future demands and contribute to Malaysia's goal of having digital economy growth account for 22.6% of the country's GDP by 2025. This investment by ByteDance is part of many tech companies entering Southeast Asia, following similar investment plans announced by other tech giants in recent months.
