California's Attorney General is seeking to make the world's top oil companies forfeit profits allegedly earned through deceiving consumers about their contribution to climate change. This legal action follows a new state law allowing the AG to pursue profits gained through violations of unfair competition and false advertising laws. The lawsuit, filed against Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips, and API, accuses them of causing billions in damages and misleading the public, while API dismissed the suit as meritless.
