Camilla's £28 Million Tiara Stuns at Buckingham Palace State Banquet, Controversial Story Linked to Trump

Reported 9 months ago

During a state banquet at Buckingham Palace on June 26, 2024, King Charles III of England hosted the visiting Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako in grand style. Queen Consort Camilla's outfit stole the show, especially her white silk gown paired with a tiara adorned with rubies and diamonds valued at around £7 million (approximately NT$280 million), which has a controversial past. The tiara was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973 and is believed to have been worn by her during a state banquet with then-US President Trump, leading to speculations about the choice of the tiara as a subtle criticism. The tiara features 96 rubies gifted by the Burmese people to protect the queen's health, along with diamonds from the dismantled Nizam of Hyderabad Tiara, and pays homage to British culture through its rose-inspired design. Jewelry expert Maxwell Stone emphasized the emotional and precious value of the tiara due to the rarity and quality of the rubies and diamonds used.
