Can Earthquakes Be Predicted? Experts Analyze Pre-earthquake 'Anomalies' for Potentially More Accurate Early Warnings

Reported 8 months ago

Following the Hualien major earthquake in Taiwan, there was concern among the public about the lack of an early warning system. Some foreign experts suggest that by analyzing past major earthquakes, electromagnetic anomalies before earthquakes can now be detected through satellites, hoping to create a low false alarm rate early warning system in the future. Professor Ahangarzadeh from the University of Tehran analyzed data before earthquakes and found abnormalities in surface temperatures and atmospheric parameters leading up to the earthquakes. He believes these abnormal signals could serve as a reference to predict earthquake occurrences with more certainty.
