Canadian airline WestJet has started canceling flights as a precaution against a potential strike by aircraft maintenance technicians. The airline aims to prevent passengers and planes from being stranded in the event of a walkout. About 40 flights, affecting 6,500 passengers, were expected to be canceled between Tuesday and Wednesday. WestJet and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association are currently in negotiations, with the union threatening a strike if the company does not return to the bargaining table.
